When Should You Replace Your Phone Battery?
How to tell the difference between everyday battery ageing and a problem that needs attention.

Battery life naturally changes over time. Replacement may be appropriate when the battery no longer supports your routine, but symptoms can have other causes too.
Watch the pattern, not one bad day
Shorter runtime after a busy day is normal. Consistently rapid drain, unexpected shutdowns or a phone that struggles to hold charge are stronger signs. Check battery usage settings to see whether a particular app is responsible.
Look for physical warning signs
A lifted display, swelling or unusual heat can indicate a damaged battery. Do not press the screen back down or continue charging. Stop using the phone and have it assessed promptly.
Check battery health if available
Some devices show battery health or capacity information in settings. It is a useful clue, not the whole diagnosis. Charging issues can also come from a cable, port or another component.
Ask for a diagnosis
A technician can help determine whether a battery replacement is the right repair. Explain how long the issue has been happening and whether the phone shuts down, heats up or charges irregularly.
Persistent poor runtime, unexpected shutdowns and physical changes are reasons to seek an assessment. Swelling deserves prompt attention.
